Christmas Holly

One Snowy Night Before Christmas by Pamela Fryer

Readers Gazette's Christmas Book 2

One Snowy Night Before Christmas by Pamela Fryer Jessica Jeffries hates Christmas. With all the commercialism, stress and chaos, there are a lot of people who feel the same way. But Jessie has more reason than most for hating it. She’s been robbed, dumped, caught pneumonia, broken her leg, and this year she ran over Santa Claus with her truck. Tom Dunham’s holiday is turning out to be pretty awful. Not only is he suddenly responsible for a six year old daughter he hasn’t seen since infancy, but Amy holds him personally responsible for uprooting her, making it impossible for Santa to find her on Christmas morning. Things go from bad to worse when Tom’s car breaks down on a freezing mountain road, but he gets a reprieve when a young woman who looks more like a Victoria’s Secret model than a tow truck driver comes to his rescue. Suddenly things are looking up—until she runs over an old man with an eerie resemblance to St. Nick. Warning: One Snowy Night Before Christmas might just make you believe in Santa Claus again. If you’re a fan of Donna Kauffman, Jane Graves and Jill Shalvis, this Christmas story is sure to make you yearn for eggnog and gingerbread cookies. Contains sexual content; this story is not intended for readers under the age of 18. Length: 35,000 words (approximately 100 pages) EXCERPT: Jessica picked up her radio handset and called in, to Hazel no doubt, telling her she’d picked up “the ducks.” The radio crackled in response, but Tom couldn’t make out any of the words. Jessie dropped the microphone back in its holder and looked past him at Amy again. “That hot chocolate getting you warmed up?” Amy nodded. “Uh huh.” Glory be, a response. Followed by another uncomfortable silence. Jessie slowed the truck for a tight turn. “How’d you get stuck working through the holidays?” Even before he finished asking the question, he knew it was a mistake. He was intrigued by this delightful contradiction of beauty and strength and...

The Christmas List: A Novel by Richard Paul Evans

Readers Gazette's Christmas Book 8

The Christmas List: A Novel by Richard Paul Evans A heart warming and inspirational Christmas novel in the tradition of The Christmas Box, Grace, The Gift, and Finding Noel. The New York Times bestselling author of The Christmas Box and The Walk series returns with a holiday novel of hope, love, and redemption.
Excerpt
Saturday , Three Weeks Before Christmas James Kier looked back and forth between the newspaper headline and the photograph of himself, not sure if he should laugh or call his attorney. It was the same photograph the Tribune had used a couple of years earlier when they featured him on the front page of the business section. He had worn a silver herringbone-weave Armani over a black silk Tshirt for the photo session, the corner of an ebony silk handkerchief peeked strategically from the breast pocket. The black and white photograph was carefully posed and lighted to leave half his face in shadow. The photographer, a black-clad young Japanese man with a shock of bright pink hair, chose to shoot in black and white because, in the photographer's words, he was "going for a yin-yang effect -- to fully capture Kier's inner complexities." The photographer was good at his craft. Kier's expression revealed a leaky confidence. While the photograph was the same, the headline could not have been more different. Not many people get to read their own obituary.

In equal parts hilarious, poignant, suspenseful and thrilling, The Christmas Train is a delightful journey filled with memorable characters who have packed their bags with as much wisdom as mischief . . . The Greatest Gift by Philip Van Doren Stern

Readers Gazette's Christmas Book 12

The Greatest Gift by Philip Van Doren Stern For almost seventy years, people the world over have fallen in love with Frank Capra’s classic Christmas movie It’s a Wonderful Life. But few of those fans know that Capra’s film was based on a short story by Philip Van Doren Stern, which came to Stern in a dream one night. Unable at first to find a publisher for his evocative tale about a man named George Pratt who ponders suicide until he receives an opportunity to see what the world would be like without him, Stern published the story in a small pamphlet and sent it out as his 1943 Christmas card. One of those 200 cards found its way into the hands of Frank Capra, who shared it with Jimmy Stewart, and the film that resulted became the holiday tradition cherished today.
Warning: This book is a short story and not the full length feauture film size.

A Childs Christmas in Wales by Dylan Thomas

Readers Gazette's Christmas Book 13

A Childs Christmas in Wales by Dylan Thomas All the Christmases roll down toward the two tongued sea, like a cold and headlong moon bundling down the sky that was our street; and they stop at the rim of the ice edged, fish freezing waves, and I plunge my hand in the snow and bring out whatever I can find... Dylan Thomas lyrical account of his childhood Christmases in a small Welsh town, featuring wolves, bears, hippos and Mrs Protheros cat, has become deservedly famous. The Little Match Girl - The Golden Age of Illustration Series by Hans Christian Andersen

Readers Gazette's Christmas Book 14

The Little Match Girl - The Golden Age of Illustration Series by Hans Christian Andersen This volume of the Golden Age of Illustration Series contains Hans Christian Andersens The Little Match Girl, first published in May of 1824. This classic fairy tale has been continuously in print in different editions since its first publication, with many, many, different artists illustrating the story over the years. This edition features a beautiful collection of the best of that art, taken from the likes of Arthur Rackham, Mabel Lucie Attwell, Harry Clarke, Honor Appleton, Maxwell Armfield, among others.
