Erotic e-books given curfew in Germany

Sexually explicit e-books called Schlauchgeluste roughly translated means Pantyhose Cravings have had so many complaints in Germany that to protect children from being able to buy the digital versions they have introduced a curfew.

It will now be illegal to sell these books in Germany during the hours of 6am and 10pm with Booksellers facing fines of up to 50,000 euros if they don’t comply with the law.

German Cinemas have had this curfew since 2002 and now that its been applied to e-books it will interesting to see how digital sellers hide or restrict this content from their younger clients. Suggestion for monitoring books with youth-endangering content have yet to really become clear but a lot of the industry leaders are calling for a proof of age approach instead at the checkout.

So if you find yourself in Germany and want to read books like 50 Shades of Grey or see it at the cinema, you are going to have to wait until gone 10pm.
