Why They Call Him Jack The Ripper

Why They Call Him Jack The Ripper

Philduke on weebly

There are many serial killers, but there is only one called Jack The Ripper. Why is it that he and he alone is given the distinction of this descriptive and horrific name? He was called Jack due to the letters he sent in which he referred to himself as Jack, and the Ripper due to the horrific ripping nature of the mutilations he inflicted on his (hopefully) dead victims. Jack The Ripper and Sherlock Holmes lived in the same Victorian age, and the same city, London. It was inevitable that their paths would cross, and so they do in my Ebook “Jack the Ripper Versus Sherlock Holmes.”

Jack The Ripper and Sherlock Holmes The Ebook.

In real life The Ripper was never caught, but Sherlock Holmes never fails. In my Ebook Sherlock Holmes investigates, and brilliantly employing his powers of observation and logical reasoning, is able to identify The Ripper .Holmes requests a personal meeting, and Holmes and Watson are invited to the meeting, which is at Buckingham Palace. You can read all about it in my Ebook “Jack The Ripper Versus Sherlock Holmes,” available from Draft2Digital.com and Amazon and My other Sherlock Holmes stories are listed and described on Philduke at Weebly.

Why The Ripper Hated Prostitutes.

Jack The Ripper was a ladies man, he sought out, murdered and mutilated only females. All his victims were females of easy virtue, who plied their trade in the notorious Whitechapel District of London’s East End. No one knows for sure why he murdered and mutilated only female prostitutes, but it was widely rumored he had contracted the dread and at that time incurable venereal disease Syphilis from a prostitute. Then he was angrily wreaking revenge on all female prostitutes. I say angrily because all his victims were killed the same way, with deep slashes to the throat, and the slashes were driven back and forth with such force that the heads were almost severed. It is believed he used an extremely sharp double-edged autopsy knife, and this plus the fact that some knowledge of human anatomy was exhibited by the subsequent mutilations, resulted in the belief that The Ripper was a person with some medical training,

Was The Ripper A Butcher?

But then perhaps The Ripper was not a medical man, but a butcher? It so happens that a blood stained leather apron, of the kind worn by slaughter house workers and butchers, was found near one of the killings, Then the newspapers took to calling him “Leather Apron” and the name stuck. Of course it could be that more than one person was involved in the killings. Perhaps one did the killing, and the other the mutilations?

In any case the killer or killers were unmoved by their victim’s sufferings. The deep slashing of the throat severed both the jugular vein and the breathing tube, so that at the same time the victims died due to lack of both air and blood. Not a good way to die.

The Ripper Ate Part Of One Victim

The Ripper enjoyed taunting the authorities, and he sent two letters and a postcard to the authorities. They were written in red ink because as he explained, the blood he tried to write with coagulated. Copies of the letters were made and widely circulated, without any result. But written communications were not the only thing the Ripper sent. A Mr. George Lusk had formed a vigilante committee dedicated to the goal of identifying and bringing The Ripper to justice, and a little box was delivered to him. On opening it contained half a human kidney in wine, and a written communication from The Ripper that stated he had fried and eaten the other half, and enjoyed eating it. This drove the police into a frenzy of attempts to catch The Ripper but it was to no avail; no one ever so much as caught a glimpse of Jack The Ripper, and he was never caught.

Why The Ripper Was Never Caught

It is somewhat surprising that The Ripper was never caught. The entire police force as well as thousands of vigilantes were looking for him, and all his crimes were committed either in or close by the Whitechapel District. In addition the prostitutes were all well aware that they were potential victims, and were on the look out for him. It was rumored that The Ripper was a man of Royal blood, and was being protected by the authorities including the Police. If so a likely candidate would be Prince Albert, next n line to assume the Royal throne and be King of England. In any case the killings eventually ceased, and The Ripper never struck again. Read the ebook and find out why. With autopsy photographs and reports, and numerous additional illustrations.
