Season 11 of Death in Paradise has seen some changes to the detective team that viewers have grown to adore. This will-they-won’t-they storyline between Neville Parker and DS Florence Cassell has come to an end with her departure (Ralf Little).
She has shown to be exactly what Neville and the team are looking for in Sergeant Naomi Thomas (Shantol Jackson).
Darlene Curtis (played by Ginny Holder) has also returned to the team, this time as a volunteer police officer. Last seen on the show in 2018 was Holder’s character
Some fans have taken to Twitter to express their joy at the developments.
Death in Paradise season 12 potential release date: When will it air on BBC?
There is good news for Death in Paradise fans: The BBC has already approved the 12th season. Back in 2021, along with the 11th season, the series was ordered.
Tim Key, the show’s executive producer, stated the following in a press release:
“We are thrilled to be returning to Saint Marie to complete the story begun in series 10. We can’t wait to get started again, and we’ve got a lot of exciting things in store for the future – we’ve got a lot of surprises in store.”
Tommy Bulfin, the BBC’s commissioning editor, added the following:
“In addition to providing some much-needed escapism, Death in Paradise also provides interesting whodunnits and genuinely rewarding story twists. We are proud of Death in Paradise and know how popular it is with viewers. If you haven’t seen the tenth-anniversary series yet, we hope you’ll give it a chance tonight.”
Death in Paradise season 12 cast: Who’s coming back?
We all know that season 11 was Josephine Florence’s final season. On Twitter, Josephine announced her departure from the show, writing: Until we meet again!
“That’s all I have to say about the subject. We’ve arrived. Florence is making a major shift. Some of you had been predicting this for a long time. It’s a good thing, too. The actual detectives are those of you. You should come to Saint Marie and fill in for me. I’m confident you’d be fantastic at this.”
“When I left at the end of series eight, I assumed it would be for good,” she continued. When asked if I wanted to return, I responded yes, but I had a sneaking suspicion it wouldn’t be for much longer.
To ensure Florence’s safety at the end of her voyage, I accompanied her. It’s all done now. As strange as it may sound, I know she’s doing OK and will be moving on, so I can say my goodbyes and let her go. This is a stunning page that has been flipped.”
Fans, cast, and the crew were all addressed by her when she spoke.
In the past few years, I’ve learned a great deal, and I’ve met some truly lovely people. I’ll never forget what a wonderful experience that was. Everyone who offered me the opportunity to be a guest on the show, thank you.
“I want to express my gratitude for the love and support you’ve shown me since the beginning. It means a great deal to hear that. I’m in love with you. Take caution. “Death in Paradise, long live the King.”
Those expecting her comeback may be saddened by her closing words, but hey, she may make a guest appearance or two in the future. Here’s to clinging to the faint glimmer of optimism.
That’s not something Little would like to see happen, for sure.
While “generally people have loved my period as the show’s head,” “I think I was extremely fortunate to have Josie on board and for Neville to have that relationship with Florence,” the actor stated, “I think I was incredibly fortunate to have Josie and for Neville to have that relationship with Florence” (via Hello).
This helped me in my efforts to connect with the audience,” he says. “It was a great combination of the two of them.” There is no doubt in my mind that I was devastated to see her leave and if she wants to return for a reunion episode, that would be wonderful.”
It’s possible that Jobert will rejoin the cast, although perhaps not in season 12.
I had a great time with the production! ‘ “We’re not going to kill you off,” they said, “in case one day you wish to come back and say hello, not as a ghost, but as a living human!” […] So why not? Next year might be too soon, so perhaps not this time around. “What in the world is she doing?” will be the question of the day! Repeatedly leaving, returning, and so on. ‘Wow, girl!’ It may be possible in the future, but not right now.
Darlene Curtis (Ginny Holder) and Naomi Thomas (Shantol Jackson) are both expected to make it to season 12 given their recent return and promotion. We’re at:
• Elizabeth Bourgine as Catherine Bordey
• Don Warrington as Commissioner Selwyn Patterson
• Ralf Little as DI Neville Parker
• Tahj Miles as Officer Marlon Pryce
Death in Paradise season 12 plot: What will happen?
Neville Parker may have feelings for someone, but it’s not a ‘JoseVille’ romance. For the show’s fans, there is the customary jaw-dropping twist that they have come to expect. Izzy, Neville’s sister, has arrived in Saint Marie to surprise him after receiving several unanswered messages.
Izzy and Catherine Bordey (Mayoress Catherine Bordey) will have “a big plot together this season,” according to Elizabeth (via Hello!).
Season 12 might see the continuation of this intriguing plot.
It’s unlikely that Neville will get a break in season 12.
“If the detectives are overjoyed, they have nowhere else to go, so be on the lookout for that. However, that would be a wonderful thing to do. When Tim Key, our exec, wants Neville to look too cool, it drives me crazy “Not much was spoken (via Hello).
“You know what? “Come on man!” I yell. On the weekends, I’m a scuba diver, snorkeler, and jet skier, doing all the fun things the Caribbean has to offer. “Maybe Neville could ride a jet ski?” I would think about it. There is now a running joke in our house about Tim’s obsession with never letting me appear cool.”
“We’ve previously talked about how fortunate this person is to be living in paradise, so he needs some suffering! His demons are not extinguished; they are alive and well, but he is making progress toward conquering them, which is why meeting this fascinating, dynamic, bright, and stunning woman would be like… oh come on.”
Death in Paradise season 12 trailer: When can I watch it?
