Is Ron Howard Sick?
Ron Howard’s alopecia can be directly attributed to the Fonz. The latest book by Ron Howard, The Boys: A Memoir of Hollywood and Family, includes an honest account of his hair loss owing to a stress-related skin issue. The actor and filmmaker say that his hair began “coming out in startling clumps” during his stint on the television sitcom “Happy Days,” where he was both a cast member and director.
Fonzie was the most stressful factor. Howard reportedly writes that “not Henry [Winkler] but Fonzie” should be the lead character. Throughout the season, I noticed that the Fonz was featured in more and more episodes. Unfortunately, I didn’t cope with my anxiety very well. Seeing a therapist might have helped me out… But I kept it all to myself.” Howard’s physical health began to suffer as the stress continued.
My eyelids were the first place I noticed the eczema outbreak, spreading everywhere. And I noticed that my hair was thinning,” he says. According to Howard, “looking at the guys on both sides of my family, I knew it was inevitable, but it started pouring out in startling clumps during this time.”
