Tell Me Your Secrets on Amazon is the pinnacle of the suspense thriller. Episodes from Season 1 were released in February 2021 and kept fans on the edge of their seats as they awaited what would happen next. There’s a mystery; there’s treachery; there’s lust – what more could you want out of a TV show? But the real question is this: What’s the deal with Tell Me Your Secrets Season 2?
As of yet, Amazon hasn’t renewed the show for a second season. While that’s not fantastic, the silver lining is that Amazon also hasn’t canceled the show, which means there’s hope. While it’s hard to estimate how popular the show may have been, with a cast this good in place, you know the show is going to do well. Lily Rabe, one of the cast’s most impressive members, has confessed that even she will have difficulty bidding farewell to her Emma character. “I have a terrible time letting go,” Rabe told Variety. “As a rule, it’s impossible for me to do that while someone else has a hold on me. My sanity requires that I put them on a shelf, but that shelf is in my house, not a storage facility somewhere else.”
Although Season 1 was pretty well-rounded, there’s always room for more stories. Here’s everything you need to know about Tell Me Your Secrets Season
What happens in Season 1 of Tell Me Your Secrets?
Warning: The following contains major story aspects from Season 1, so proceed with caution.
Season 1 of Tell Me Your Secrets centers on three intertwined narratives. There’s Karen/Emma (Lily Rabe), who was dating a serial killer named Kit (Xavier Samuel) but didn’t know of his terrible tendencies. As a result, she was imprisoned, her memories were wiped clean, and she was placed in witness protection. In addition, Mary (Amy Brenneman) is searching for her kidnapped daughter and believes Kit is to blame. She won’t give up on looking, even after Kit turns up dead. Lastly, we have John (Hamish Linklater), who Mary seeks out to help find for her daughter — but who has sinister habits of his own.
Throughout the first season, the narratives twist and shift as Mary attempts hard to uncover answers about her daughter, fearing Emma (who was Karen while she was with Kit) could know something. Emma, on the other hand, is unable to recall every detail of her background, even when memories begin to resurface. In the end, it turns out Mary’s daughter isn’t dead at all and was Kit’s companion in crime. Literally.
When does Tell Me Your Secrets Season 2 premiere?
On this one, the odds are in your favor. Season 2 of the show has yet to be announced, but even if it does, it will be some time in the future. If that happens, it’ll probably be 2023 at the earliest, but we’ll just have to wait for an announcement from Amazon before we can make a better guess.
Who will be in the cast of Season 2 of Tell Me Your Secrets?
It’s safe to assume that everyone from the first season will return for the second season of Tell Me Your Secrets. When we left off in Season 1, we still pretty much had everyone intact (except Kit, who bit it way early), and there are plenty of tales still to tell. For this reason, we’d hope at least Rabe, Brenneman, and Linklater would return to reprise their roles. Season 2 would be incomplete without Mary’s daughter, Theresa (Stella Baker), returning to the show.
Are there any Season 2 spoilers yet?
What’s this? You guessed right – we don’t know anything about what might be included in Season 2 yet. What we do know, though, is that viewers undoubtedly want to see more of Theresa’s narrative. A lot is left unsaid in Season 1, which only scratches the surface of what happens to her. In addition, each of the characters has a backstory that has to be explored more. Rabe told StyleCaster after the first season dropped that she felt the first season is adequately contained if it needs to stand alone; nonetheless, she thinks there’s more story to be told.
“[Executive producer] Harriet [Warner] and I are close, and we talk about everything,” she remarked. “During filming, we frequently discussed her plans for season 2 and the direction her thoughts were taking at the time. I know some of the potentials of the things that could happen. … We have a lot of great memories to draw on.”
With no second season in sight, viewers are still reeling over all that went down in HBO’s mystery-thriller miniseries The Undoing. According to the novel You Should Have Known by Jean Hanff Korelitz as adapted for the screen, the drama centers on Grace Fraser (Nicole Kidman), an accomplished psychotherapist and stylish Manhattan brownstone wife. When the body of one of the mothers at her son’s school is found dead the night of a school fundraiser, Grace and her family find themselves in the thick of a murder investigation. The series finale sealed each character’s arc with a glittering red bow, leaving fans yearning to fill their murder-mystery, thriller, and Kidman gap. One way to scratch the itch? Find additional shows like The Undoing to watch so you won’t be tempted to hit play on the original again.
Being filmed in some of New York City’s wealthiest districts also gave The Undoing a sense of seriousness and an idea of unattainability – an elite lifestyle only the incredibly affluent could ever dream of living. That sort of insight into how “the other half” lives make for some irresistible viewing. Luckily, there are loads of streamable shows that revolve around exclusive preparatory schools, involve murder mysteries and infidelity, pay homage to New York City, and of course, star Kidman.
There’s something for everyone on this list, whether you want a program with a strong female lead, a setting in Manhattan, or suspense.
