The Mandalorian Season 3 Potential Release Date Status, Cast, Plot, and Latest Information!

Disney doesn’t do things halfway, and after the end of season two of The Mandalorian, fans are dying to know what comes next for the show.

At least we know that season three is coming, which is great news for fans of Mando and his cute muppet friend. Now, all we have to do is wait for it.

Even though there are always new Star Wars spin-offs coming out, like The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka and Andor, The Mandalorian is still one of the most popular shows in the galaxy.

Here’s what you need to know about season three of The Mandalorian.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Potential Release Date

As part of the Star Wars events on May 26, 2022, producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni announced that the third season of The Mandalorian will come out in February 2023. Then Ahsoka will come along later that same year.

People had been talking about when it could be for a long time, and even the cast wasn’t sure for sure.

On The Rich Eisen Show, Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Moff Gideon, said: “You’ll get it as quickly as possible.

“I still need to finish a few more things before I can finish my work. I think it will happen this summer, though. There isn’t a set date yet, but one will be set soon.”

But in a big Star Wars interview for Vanity Fair, Pedro Pascal and the other new leading stars of the galaxy said that the show would start “later in 2022 or early in 2023.”

TVLine had said before that The Mandalorian would come out in December, which would be in line with when the previous seasons came out.

Now we know for sure that we won’t see any more adventures with Din Dujardin and Grogu for the rest of 2022. Luckily, there are plenty of other Star Wars shows to keep us busy, starting with the new Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Cast

As part of the announcement of the release date, it was said that Pedro Pascal will be back as Din Djarin, the Mandalorian who is the main character of the whole series (presumably with help from stunt doubles Barry Lowin, Brendan Wayne, and Lateef Crowder).

Pascal’s stunt doubles In an Instagram post after the end of the second season, Brendan Wayne confirmed this by writing: “No spoilers!!! But just in case nobody else knew it yet, Pedro Pascal is amazing. This season, they planned a beautiful journey for him. This story became epic when Pedro did more than what was written on the page. I’d like to thank Pedro Pascal.”

And he added: “Yes!! Pedro is on the way back. There was never even a doubt. DO NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ.”

Baby Yoda (we’re not going to call him Grog, you can’t make us) will also be back for more adventures all over the galaxy, which is good news since he is so popular right now. Glad they were able to sign that deal.

Katee Sackhoff, who plays Bo-Katan Kryze, is a big name who is coming back. She said that the character has “unfinished business” at the Star Wars Celebration panel where news was given.

This ominous warning could mean that Bo-Katan and his old friend Din Djarin will fight over who gets the Darksaber.

When Ming-Na Wen, who plays Fennec Shand, talked to Digital Spy about her character’s role in the third chapter, there was some doubt there.

“I’m not sure. Most likely, you’ll know before I do. You guys are inquiring about everything, “she told me. “I mean, come on, I didn’t even know I was filming The Book of Boba Fett, so you’re asking the wrong person.”

Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Moff Gideon, has said that he will have a bigger role in season three and be more dangerous than ever.

He said to Metro, “He is the ultimate bad guy who is all-powerful and knows everything there is to know about technology and other things. So, it’s safe to say that you’ll see Moff again… soon.”

Greef Karga (Carl Weathers, confirmed) and Ahsoka Tano could also come back (Rosario Dawson).

Cara Dune is a character who will not be back at all. Since the first two seasons of The Mandalorian were shot, Gina Carano has been fired from the show because she wrote offensive things on social media. Here is where you can find out more about that.

The Mandalorian Season 3

When criticized by a caller after Carano’s firing, Disney CEO Bob Chapek said on the company’s investor call (via The Hollywood Reporter), “I don’t see Disney as being left-leaning or right-leaning. Instead, it stands for values.”

“Universal Values. How to show respect. Values of good behavior. Values of honesty and values of being open to everyone.”

Carano was also dropped by United Talent Agency, which was her agent at the time.

Now that The Mandalorian has more ties to a galaxy far, far away, don’t be surprised if more guest stars, especially those who know about the Force, show up in season three. Maybe young Luke Skywalker, who was made with CGI in The Book of Boba Fett and even had a voice that was digitally made to sound younger, will stop by again. One of those fish nuns from “The Last Jedi” is our best guess.

Hamill wrote a heartfelt response online, thanking the episode’s director, Peyton Reed, for the chance to be a part of “that big moment” from the second season of Mando.

“Dear @MrPeytonReed, I’m so glad you gave me the chance to play my character again when he was still a symbol of hope and optimism,” Hamill wrote.

“Your sure guidance and kindness were important parts of the experience, and I can’t thank you enough.”

Oh, and don’t be surprised if Bryce Dallas Howard, who is very talented, comes back to direct another episode in season three. She’s already working on The Book of Boba Fett episode five. Find out what she thinks about evil Baby Yoda and the biggest complaint about season two here.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Plot

The end of The Mandalorian’s second season felt like the end of the show, leaving a lot of questions about what will happen in season three.

At first, people thought that the scene after the credits might have been there to set up a whole new story about Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) and Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen). But it was called “The Book of Boba Fett.” Not a Mandalorian story, but a side story that happens at the same time as the Mandalorian arc.

“When they told me I was going to be a regular on the show, I just assumed it was for season three of The Mandalorian,” Ming-Na Wen told Digital Spy. “Then, when the scripts came out, they had the numbers 301, 302, 303, and 304 on them. So I just thought I was signing on, even though my contracts don’t say “The Mandalorian.”

“So, while I was working with Tem and Robert [Rodriguez] for two weeks, I didn’t know that I was filming the spin-off [laughs].

“When the crew and actors found out, they thought they were going to die. It was insane. So, yeah, it was great to finally find out I was filming The Book of Boba Fett. In a way, they call it “The Mandalorian 2.5.” So I wasn’t wrong at all.”

Fans who have seen all of The Book of Boba Fett already know what’s going on, but in case you haven’t, here’s a juicy tidbit: the last episodes of Boba Fett set up the plot for the next season of The Mandalorian.

As the show came to an end, Boba and Fennec didn’t like the idea of being seen as heroes. This makes sense, given that they used to be cruel. Boba even says, “We’re not made for this,” to which Fennec replies, “I agree.” “Who else if not us?”

When a stranger gives them a melon, they know the answer. Fett throws it at the leaders of the Mods street gang, Black Krrsantan, and Sophie Thatcher’s Drash. In theory, these characters could replace Boba Fett in Jabba the Hutt’s old seat, giving Boba the chance to go back to being a bounty hunter. If not the torch, then at least the watermelon.

Then we get a quick, cute look at Mando flying away with Grog.

So we thought the story would start with The third season of The Mandalorian, in which Mando and Grogu get back together, which has now aired in Boba Fett. (We’ve done a deep dive for you here.)

In an interview with People, Giancarlo Esposito also gave a hint about what will happen in season three of The Mandalorian. He said, “We live in a huge universe with a lot to discover.

“So I think this show will start to lay the groundwork for the depth and breadth that will come in seasons three and four when you’ll start to get answers.”

Bryce Dallas Howard, who directed the second season episode “The Heiress,” talked to Digital Spy about how the show isn’t afraid to go into parts of the Star Wars universe that casual fans might not know about.

“Of course, I think it’s a very fine line,” she said. “As an actor, I’m used to these kinds of questions because, for example, when I worked on the Jurassic franchise, we’d say, ‘OK, we can have fun with some deep cuts for the fans, but at the end of the day, it’s about a good story, well told.

“What does that mean?” How could something that happened in The Lost World or somewhere else affects

Even though we don’t know much about Rangers of the New Republic yet, the Ahsoka spin-off was pretty much a given after the character’s first live-action appearance in season two of The Mandalorian. And, of course, Boba’s solo work is already out there. the story of Jurassic World: Dominion?”

She also said, “If you’re telling a story that’s a biopic and there are a lot of smaller characters, but you can read about all of them because they existed and their lives are well-documented and all that, it’s only going to help the biopic that’s about the main character.

“Because you’ll have these fully-developed characters who aren’t the focus of the story but are still a part of it.”

Now that we know there will be three new spin-off shows, these quotes make a lot more sense. Rangers of the New Republic, Ahsoka, and The Book of Boba Fett all take place at the same time as The Mandalorian, so don’t be surprised if they connect to the main show in some way, as BoBF already has. Season three might directly set up all of them.

“Pascal said (via Indiewire) about season three’s plot, “I know what’s going on and what the plan is, but I can’t tell you.” They are in the process of making this world bigger, which means they will have to deal with a lot of surprises and changes in time.

“If the character were to cross over into these worlds, it would be used in a way that isn’t meant to be expected. I wouldn’t want to give away the surprise of whether or not we’ll see characters from other shows.”

Pascal might not know everything, either. The stars of season two were kept in the dark about some pretty important plot points, and even the shocking cameo by Luke Skywalker wasn’t told to those who were in the scene with him.

“I had no idea. They never told us, “When asked who she thought the character was during the shoot, Katee Sackhoff said, “There was a performer there whose face was covered with dots. I thought to myself, “If it was Luke, they would have told us,” “she told me. “They said that you know. Who did they say it was?

“I think Robin Gadsby, Sackhoff’s partner, knew who they said it was, but it was a total red herring. So we had no idea. I was sure it was a Jedi. I could tell it was an X-Wing. So you start putting things together, but you don’t know.”

The Mandalorian Season 3 Trailer

It doesn’t look like there is much hope for a trailer for The Mandalorian just yet, though.

But that’s okay because there are a million Baby Yoda memes and videos floating around that should be watched over and over again.

At least we’ll have a bunch of other Star Wars shows to watch. We’ll let you know when we find out more.

On Disney+, you can now stream seasons 1 and 2 of The Mandalorian, as well as The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The whole Skywalker Saga, including Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, is now available on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K, as well as on Disney+. The Rise of Skywalker is also on Sky Cinema Premiere and NOW.
