The Mandalorian Season 3: News, Cast, Plot, and More Detail!

There’s a good chance the third season of The Mandalorian will premiere on Disney Plus this year. For a while, we hadn’t seen Din Djarin and Grogu, but The Book of Boba Fett filled up the void left by the pair’s departure from our weekly viewing schedule.

In the meantime, here’s a preview of the upcoming season to keep you entertained while we wait for an official release date to be revealed. We’ve covered everything from the cast (both new and old) to the plot (and our best guess as to when we might see a trailer) in this roundup.

In addition, executive producer Dave Filoni and actor Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Moff Gideon, have offered some words of wisdom. Keep reading to learn more about The Mandalorian season 3 and everything else we’ve learned so far.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Release Date Could Be Summer 2022

The third season of The Mandalorian may be coming to Disney Plus this summer, though it hasn’t been confirmed. Gideon actor Giancarlo Esposito was on The Rich Eisen Show and had this to say about his role: “Awaiting your arrival is not a problem.

To put the finishing touches on what I do, I still have a few more things to complete. However, I believe it will happen this summer. Though no specific date has been announced, expect it shortly.”

TV Line previously reported that the third season of The Mandalorian would premiere around the holidays. If that’s the case, and it continues to release episodes on Wednesdays, we can estimate a premiere date of December 7, 14, 21, or 28. The second and third options are the most plausible.

Additionally, Carl Weathers, who plays Greef Karga, has stated that filming for Season 3 of The Mandalorian began toward the end of 2021 and has since concluded, both of which are confirmed by Weathers. THR reports that season 3, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Andor will all debut on Disney Plus in 2022, making a release date of late 2022 look more and more realistic.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series, meanwhile, has been confirmed for release in 2022 by Disney, although the third season of The Mandalorian has been left unannounced. The show could premiere in 2023. Soon, we’ll get some formal answers to our questions.

The Mandalorian Season 3 Cast

This early in the season, The Mandalorian’s cast is anything but carbonite-bound. Din Djarin will be played once again by Pedro Pascal, with Grogu standing by his side. Filming on Pascal’s other new program, The Last of Us TV series, was first thought to be delaying The Mandalorian season 3, but it has now been confirmed that filming has begun.

Additionally, the EW interview with Moff Gideon actor Giancarlo Esposito hinted that Gideon will likely be more prominent in the third installment: “Next season, I think you’ll see a lot more of me. Moff Gideon is likely to be a common sight.” How foreboding…

Greef Karga is back, and Carl Weathers has confirmed that he will direct again at Steel City Con. We may expect Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan to return after the conclusion of The Mandalorian season 2, especially with the Darksaber now in Din’s hands. Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka may return, but her future is still up in the air following her appearance in The Book of Boba Fett.

Christopher Lloyd, well known for his performance in Back to the Future Part II, has joined the cast in an unspecified role.

Meanwhile, Mercedes Varnado, aka Sasha Banks, has stated that she will not be returning as Koska Reeves in Season 3.

In addition to Gina Carano’s Cara Dune, there is no Cara Dune in the series. That she would be one of the show’s most prominent characters was widely expected. LucasFilm, on the other hand, has severed all connections with Carano as a result of her social media posts. The Mandalorian season 3 will not feature her, and the Rangers of the New Republic spin-off has been scrapped, according to reports.

But what about Bill Burr’s Migs Mayfield? Talking to Screen Rant about the upcoming third season, the actor stated: “Oh, how I hope so. To work with Jon Favreau and Rick Famuyiwa, the writers of both of my episodes, and to be a small part of something so monumental and meaningful to so many people. If it doesn’t continue, I’ve had a great time, and if it does, I’ll be happy to have had the opportunity to be a part of it.”

The Mandalorian Season 3 Story: What Could Happen Next?

Season 3 of The Mandalorian has already begun to tease us, thanks to Dave Filoni’s first sneak peek: “I can’t wait for all the new experiences. For the sake of objectivity, I will state only that I believe the Force will be powerful in this case.” Even though this does not reveal anything, it sounds like a typical Mando song.

When it comes to tying up loose ends in The Mandalorian season 3, there are several possibilities.

Mando and Bo-claim Katan’s for the Darksaber appears to be the most prominent among them. By defeating Moff Gideon in combat, Din unwittingly took the Mandalore weapon as his own. Gideon could no longer take it back from Bo-Katan without first defeating Mando.

After The Clone Wars, there appeared to be a story hole where Sabine Wren just handed Bo-Katan the Darksaber without incident, however, The Book of Boba Fett explained everything.

The Armorer believes that Bo-rule Katan’s on Mandalore ended in disaster because he was given the Darksaber rather than winning it. However, it appears that Din intends to preserve the weapon to utilize it in the hunt for a reward — and to learn how to use it from the Armorer.

Grogg’s reunion with Din is another key story event. Baby Yoda was torn in The Book of Boba Fett between joining the Jedi Order and remaining with Papa Mando, but he chose the latter. To see whether or not the youngling changes his mind or if Luke Skywalker makes an appearance in The Mandalorian is intriguing.

It appears that Grogu’s powers will continue to play a significant role in The Mandalorian. At GalaxyCon, Moff Gideon actor Giancarlo Esposito hinted at the villain’s motivations for pursuing Baby Yoda: “I am going to get this child, and it’s for a completely different purpose than many people imagine,” he remarked.

To put it another way, “This youngster has magic powers, 50 years old and can see the future, and we want everyone to know that this child could save our universe” on this broadcast. If that’s the case, it makes logical that the Empire is still on the hunt for the Child – and that we’ll be seeing the tiny green guy again.

He also jokingly said: “In the end, I will have to kill this infant. Would you want that? [Laughs] Okay, then. Even if it’s completely illogical, I have to believe that I’m going to win.” That would be a pity if it happened…

Aside from that, the actor has hinted that his character will still be a strong opponent. “He’s the ultimate bad guy, one who wields unimaginable power and is well-versed in the latest technological advances. It’s safe to say that Moff will be back… and soon “He told Metro.co.uk.

Even though Gideon is no longer on the loose, he appears to have one final strategy in mind. It is evident that he has been receiving information from an unknown source during the season, and he makes it clear in the season 2 finale.

It’s not out of the question that the upcoming season of Disney Plus would delve deeper into this relationship. Is there a chance it’s Thrawn? Or is there another key participant in the Empire that we are unaware of?
