The third season of The Umbrella Academy is almost here, and we finally have the first trailer to get us excited.
With surprising changes promised and plenty of teasers to whet our appetites, we could not be more excited for the new episodes to come out on Netflix. And we didn’t even need any of that to be interested because, wow, season two was a wild ride!
Five made sure that his siblings didn’t die in the first season’s apocalypse by jumping through time and space with them to the 1960s, right into the path of another apocalypse.
The group also didn’t die at the hands of The Handler and Lila, who went to war against The Umbrella Academy. Lila is still alive, but her “mother” isn’t. More on them later.
But not everything is fine. When they got back to Hargreeves HQ, they found out that it had been taken over by The Sparrow Academy. Is it true that there is never a dull moment?
“[The Umbrella Academy] should be able to relax now, but something’s not quite right now that they’re back,” showrunner Steve Blackman told Digital Spy. “Not only do these people say they are the Sparrow Academy, but Reginald Hargreeves is still alive, and he shouldn’t be.”
Blackman also said to expect “tonnes of Easter eggs.” “We love giving Easter eggs to our fans, and this year there are more than ever.”

The Umbrella Academy season 3 trailer: Watch The Umbrella Academy season 3 trailer here!
After a lot of waiting, Netflix has given us our first full-length look at the third installment before it comes out next month.
The trailer shows that the superhero siblings have gone back to 2019 right after the cliffhanger at the end of season two and the end of the world in 1963. Things aren’t exactly how they should be, though.
In an unexpected turn of events, they have ended up in a different world where a new team called The Sparrows is in charge. There will be a fight right away, which has been hinted at before. This fight will set up the problems that will be faced during the new season.
In the earlier teaser clip, the Umbrellas and the Sparrows were shown fighting to the sound of violins and a dramatic musical score. Both Number 1s, Luther Hargreeves (the OG) and Marcus Hargreeves (the leader of the Sparrows and a fake Luther), approach each other with mano-a-mano energy.
The Umbrella Academy season 3 release date: When will The Umbrella Academy season 3 air?
The third season of The Umbrella Academy will be on Netflix on June 22. Hopefully, it will answer some of the questions that have been bothering us since the shocking end of season two in 2020.
We will soon be able to watch 10 brand-new episodes. Filming for season three finished a while ago, but since special effects are so important to this show, it’s not surprising that we’ve had to wait so long.
Visual effects supervisor Everett Burrell told Gold Derby that it took “months and months” to plan the end of the world scene in season two.
“A lot of the tools used for special effects in movies are now being used in TV, so we can see bigger and more epic things. So every season, we have to beat ourselves by using the newest and best tools we can find.”
The Umbrella Academy season 3 cast: Who’s in The Umbrella Academy season 3?
Ben, played by Justin H. Min, will be back for season three, but this time he’s a member of The Sparrow Academy, not The Umbrella Academy.
And he’s no longer Ben because of his hair and his very bad attitude.
Since Vanya, Five, Klaus, Allison, Diego, Luther, and Reginald were all alive and well at the end of season two, they will all be back (Colm Feore).
Since The Sparrow Academy and emo “Ben” have been introduced, will the other Hargreeves kids also be seeing double?

Lila (Ritu Arya), who joined the show in Season 2, will also be back. We now know that she can do everything the siblings can do, but better. Also, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Grace (Jordan Claire Robbins) and Pogo (Adam Godley and Ken Hall) again.
Both Allison’s husband Raymond (Yusuf Gatewood) and Vanya’s love interest Sissy (Marin Ireland) stayed behind in the 1960s, so it seems like their stories are over. Harlan, on the other hand, could show up again because he still has his powers.
There’s also room for some new faces, which Netflix confirmed with a big announcement about casting for the Sparrow Academy at the start of 2021. The following people will now be working with Justin H. Min (with helpful descriptions of each):
Marcus, Sparrow #1, will be played by Justin Cornwell (Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey, I Am the Night).
“A beautiful, chiseled giant. Marcus keeps the family together because he is honest, good, and strict. He is graceful but deadly, smart but kind, and as strong as he is smart. Marcus is organized, logical, and in charge. He is sure of himself and knows how to lead without ever having to shout.”
Britne Oldford, who has been in shows like “The Path” and “Hunters,” will play Fei, Sparrow #3.
“Fei has a unique way of seeing the world. She seems like a person who doesn’t like people and would rather be alone than spend any time with you. But Fei wishes she had someone to hang out with. Fei is usually the smartest person in the room and is willing to help solve problems. But if you cross Fei, you can’t go back because she won’t stop until the job is done.”
Alphonso, Sparrow #4, will be played by Jake Epstein (Designated Survivor, Suits).
“Years of fighting crime have left him with many scars and marks on his face and body. Alphonso has a sharp and biting sense of humor to make up for it. He likes nothing more than to verbally beat up anyone stupid enough to get in his face. The only thing he likes more than that is a good pizza and a six-pack of beer.”
Sloane, Sparrow #5 will be played by Genesis Rodriguez, who was in “The Fugitive” and “Big Hero 6.”
“She is a romantic dreamer who feels a higher cosmic calling that makes her want to see the world and live a life beyond what she was taught. Sloane is stuck at the Academy because she has to take care of her family and is afraid to cross the family line. Sloane has plans, though… She might be brave enough to act on them one day.”
Jayme, Sparrow #6, will be played by Cazzie David, who wrote Eighty-Sixed and the New York Times best-seller No One Asked for This.
Britney Spears’s Net Worth 2022: Career, Biography and More Update!
“Jayme is a loner hidden under a hoodie. She doesn’t have to say much, so she doesn’t. Jayme has a snarl that makes people afraid. Seeing it will make you run across the street to avoid what comes next. She is smart and quick as a knife, and her only friend is Alphonso. She spends most of her time with him.”
The seventh Christopher Sparrow will be played by “Newcomer,” a dread-inducing existential psykronium cube. (How did they ever find an actor with those traits? Remarkable.)
“Christopher is a mysterious cube that can move things with its mind. He can make the room freeze and make people so scared that they can’t move. He is the Sparrows’ go-to wise man who gives them great advice and keeps the family on track. Christopher is a force to be reckoned with. He is honest and loyal, and the Sparrows treat him like any other sibling.”
Also, Javon Walton, who plays Ashtray on Euphoria, has confirmed that he will be in the next season.
“I’m very grateful that euphoria has led me to other big opportunities. I’m excited about some other projects that are coming up soon. I’m in the new season of Umbrella Academy, which is season three. I understand, “In Complex, he said.
We don’t know who he’ll play in the show, but we’ve seen him in action for the first time.
The Umbrella Academy season 3 plot: What will happen in The Umbrella Academy season 3?
It’s “wilder, bigger, and zanier” than ever, said the show’s creator, Steve Blackman, just before it was announced that the show will have more violence and become TV-MA for the first time.
According to the TV Parental Guidelines, this new rating (which replaces the TV-14 rating for the first two seasons) means that Netflix’s series is now officially “unsuitable for children under 17” because it may contain “crude, indecent language, explicit sexual activity, or graphic violence.”
So, get ready for things to get dirty.
“I think that by telling sad stories about this broken family, we’re just making it worse. This year, there are some very big surprises in the family, “Blackman said. “There are some amazing changes that people will love to dig into, and this family is growing in ways that people won’t expect.”
Elliot Page has already said that his character, Vanya, will come out as transgender and change her name to Viktor, just like he did in real life. This is one of the major growth moments.
But until the new episodes of the comic book show come out this summer, we won’t know how Viktor’s change will play out on screen.
The Umbrella Academy is full of twists and turns that are meant to shock and surprise the audience. Page says that the cast is also often surprised by the many big things that happen along the way.
“Well, I feel like I was often surprised,” he said. “One of the great things about the show is that when we read the scripts, we don’t know a lot of things” (via Netflix). “So I always feel like there are pleasant surprises.”
At the end of season two, we are led to believe that The Handler is dead and that the Commission will make some much-needed changes now that she is gone. But, as we already said, we wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if she showed up again in another great pair of heels with a bigger and better plan.
Lila, the daughter of the Handler, was able to get away at the end, but we’d bet good money on her showing up in season three. Will she stand with The Umbrella Academy, or will she use her powers against them?
Fans will be waiting for a happy ending for Lila and Diego, so let’s hope they get one.
In the eighth episode, “The Seven Stages,” Grace breaks into Reginald’s office and finds out about some of the projects he’s been working on.
While the focus is on plans for space travel and plans to kill John F. Kennedy, fans with eagle (or sparrow) eyes may have also seen plans for something called the Televator, which Hargreeves calls “the next great way to get around.”
In the meantime, you can use this handy timeline from Netflix to find out what happened in season two.
At least we can look at the official episode titles, which Netflix gave us in June as part of its big TUDUM event.
They are (in order):
• Meet the Family
• World’s Biggest Ball of Twine
• Pocket Full of Lightning
• Kugelblitz
• Kindest Cut
• Marigold
• Auf Wiedersehen
• Wedding at the End of the World
• Six Bells
• Oblivion
It seems pretty clear that “Meet the Family” will be our introduction to the Sparrows, while “World’s Biggest Ball of Twine” will probably be about all the crazy time-traveling adventures from the last season.
